Hong Kong Household Management Transformation for a UHNW Penthouse

For an entrepreneurial UHNW family preparing to move into a newly renovated penthouse atop Hong Kong’s skyline, Stefan Schöning was engaged to design a complete household operations framework and to train the domestic staff ahead of the family’s arrival.

 

The family office sought a seamless transition into the residence with daily operations, service culture and staff performance aligned to world-class standards from day one.

The Opportunity: Establishing a World-Class Household for a New UHNW Penthouse

An entrepreneurial UHNW family acquired an ultra-luxurious penthouse in Hong Kong and commissioned an extensive renovation.

During the construction phase, their family office approached me to design the complete household management structure from the ground up, including workflows, service standards, communication channels, and a fully aligned domestic staff team.

 

The period leading up to the family’s move-in was to be used strategically: both to create a bespoke operational concept and to train a diverse team of existing and newly hired staff members to deliver a seamless, five-star residential experience from day one.

My Approach: Designing Systems, Training Staff & Preparing the Residence

I began with in-depth consultations with the principals to understand their lifestyle, preferences and expectations. This allowed me to define the service philosophy, standards and household dynamics that would later shape the entire operational setup.

 

While developing the household management concept — including SOPs, workflows, communication structures and staff responsibilities — I simultaneously designed and conducted an intensive staff training programme. Since the penthouse was inaccessible during the renovation, the sessions were held in a luxury hotel in Hong Kong to ensure a high-end, realistic training environment.

 

As construction neared completion, I finalised all operational systems, adapted the service sequences to the layout of the penthouse, and prepared the team for a polished, discreet and anticipatory service culture that aligned with the principals’ expectations.

Upon arrival, the family stepped into a residence prepared down to the finest detail, operationally, visually and atmospherically. The domestic staff, having undergone extensive training, performed with confidence from day one, implementing the agreed standards effortlessly.

 

The smooth move-in process and the immediate operational stability created a sense of ease and trust, allowing the family to enjoy their new Hong Kong home from the very first moment.
