Refining Luxury Homes: The Philosophy Behind My Work

When you discovered my work around refining luxury homes, you may not have realised that such a profession even exists.

I understand this well as I chose a very specific niche, shaped by years of experience in luxury hospitality and private households.

This article offers a personal insight into what I do, how it began, and why refining private residences has become my life’s work.

How It All Began

My passion for hospitality began over 15 years ago, sparked by the elegance and dedication of the concierges at luxurious grand hotels.

The drive to make anything possible and fulfill every guest’s wishes captivated me, while my ambition to be an entrepreneur pushed me to create something uniquely my own.

It’s no surprise, then, that at 18 - while still training as a hotel specialist - I launched my first company, Your Personal Concierge. I offered high-end services to wealthy clients, including private jet charters, limousine service, and travel management.

I designed my first website, created a brochure, and eagerly reached out to potential clients, proudly presenting my new venture with unshakable confidence.

Looking back, this was an incredibly formative time. I learned invaluable lessons about myself, about people, and about the art of creating true value.

Building Experience in Luxury Hospitality

My first hands-on experience was gained in some of Austria’s and Switzerland’s most respected luxury hotels, including Schloss Velden on Lake Wörthersee.

Working within these environments exposed me early on to the rhythm, discipline and precision that define true luxury hospitality. Beyond technical standards, I learned how seamless service is created quietly through anticipation, attention to detail and a deep understanding of guest psychology.

This formative period taught me how excellence is embedded not through spectacle, but through consistency, restraint and an unwavering commitment to quality. It was here that I developed the mindset that later became essential in private households: service that feels effortless, personal and almost invisible.

These early years laid the groundwork for my later professional formation as a butler and ultimately for transferring luxury hotel standards into private residences worldwide.

My Formation as a Professional Butler

My professional foundation was shaped by rigorous training and hands-on experience at the highest level of international luxury hospitality.

I completed my formal butler training at The International Butler Academy, where precision, discretion and service excellence are taught not as techniques, but as a mindset. Graduating with distinction, I learned to operate in environments where trust is absolute, standards are uncompromising and every detail matters.

This training was further refined through years of experience in leading luxury hotels, including my role as Head Butler at The Dolder Grand in Zurich. There, I worked closely with some of the world’s most discerning guests, serving individuals who expect seamless perfection while valuing privacy above all else.

It was during this time that I recognised a recurring pattern:

Many guests expressed the desire to experience the same level of calm, structure and intuitive service not only during their stay, but in their private residences.

This insight became a turning point.

I realised that the true value of luxury hospitality lies not in the hotel itself, but in the systems, mindset and human excellence behind it. Translating this hotel-grade precision into private households became my mission.

Today, my work bridges these two worlds: the refined discipline of five-star hospitality and the deeply personal nature of private homes.

This background allows me to design household management concepts and training programmes that are not theoretical, but lived, proven and grounded in real-world excellence, always discreet, always tailored, always respectful of the individual lifestyle of my clients.

What Refining Luxury Homes Truly Means

To me, refining luxury homes means transferring the refined precision, efficiency and discretion of world-class hotels into exclusive private residences.

This transformation elevates a property from simply luxurious to truly exceptional.

Achieving this level of refinement requires two essential elements – both of which form the foundation of my work:

• Professional Household Organisation
Designing seamless systems and structures that allow a residence to operate effortlessly, creating clarity and calm for principals and guests alike.

• Domestic Staff Training

Training household teams to deliver world-class service, anticipate needs intuitively and uphold the highest standards of discretion.

With these foundations in place, the luxury hotel experience becomes part of everyday life at home.
